Science experiments: Wind

After fronts pass through Central Illinois, gusty winds usually follow behind. Why is that? For this week’s science experiment, we are going to make our own anemometer and talk about how wind forms. First, what is an anemometer? An anemometer is an instrument that measures wind speed. To make your anemometer you need: 1. Five Dixie cups. 2. Two straws. 3. Wooden dowel. 4. Thumbtack. 5. Hole puncher.
